What people have said:

“Over the course of the classes, we witnessed participants form a bond and leave the studio with such joy and what seemed like a weight lifted off their shoulders! Gratitude to Jane for providing this opportunity to our community members.” - Libby Herrmann, Program Manager, White Bear Center for the Arts

“I felt like I had accomplished something that would have taken a dozen talk therapy sessions to get to...if I were even able to find that part of me at all. So thank you so much for finding this wonderful gifted woman who is gentle and strong and who helped me find the language of my soul.” -  Participant, Invisible Wounds project

biography

I moved from Wales to Minnesota with my husband and two boys in 2006. In the U.K. I was an elementary teacher and then special needs teacher, but when I came to Minnesota, I began painting, and started a new career as an artist. Our youngest son has Autism, so alongside painting I was always trying to learn more about the brain and achieving emotional health, which led me to training in therapeutic art. Through both my paintings and therapeutic art workshops and retreats, my goal is to help others experience the joy and wonder of creating with child-like freedom.

I’m inspired by everyday moments, stories and memories that make life extraordinary. My paintings are a way of expressing the joy, sadness and complexity of life. I look to capture the beauty of the nuances of life and to create art that evokes emotion and captures the imagination. Through my artwork, I hope to create an emotional connection between the viewer and the painting, and for it to serve as a reminder to cherish each moment of life, no matter how small or fleeting. For many adults their inner child may have gone unnoticed and unexpressed for many years. I want to re-awaken the child within because it is an essential part of experiencing healing, freedom and self-expression. I’m passionate about helping people experience inner healing and transformation through art and creative expression.
