Nourishment is a core pillar at Wild Rice Retreat, and we’ve crafted a welcoming dining experience at Root, our onsite kitchen, to fuel the soul. Guided by a holistic, Ayurvedic-inspired approach, we focus on creating meals with whole foods, placing a strong emphasis on fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs, and spices to keep our guests feeling energized and satisfied.

Start your day with a light breakfast offering of Greek yogurt and house-made granola, fruit, local coffee from Wonderstate, and artisan hot tea.

Fuel up for day of Bayfield adventures with a robust brunch offering that includes items like vegetable quiche, fresh spinach & arugula salad, gluten-free almond crust breakfast pie with fresh herbs & roasted vegetables, fresh fruit platter and local baked artisan breads.
Dinner

After a day of exploring, wind down with a family-style offering of dishes like Lake Superior ponzu salmon with house pickles, roasted fresh vegetables, baked chicken and vegetable curry, chilled raita salad and midnight brownies.

Our beverage program features complimentary coffee from local roaster, Wonderstate, and artisan hot tea while revitalizing N/A cocktails, regional beers and ciders, and award-winning wines are available for purchase. Is there an on-site restaurant or bar?
Yes, buffet-style meals are served daily in our main dining space and are included in the room rate for overnight guests. Our on-site bar serves wine, beer, and curated alcohol-free drinks, while complimentary coffee and tea are provided throughout your stay. Guests who are not staying overnight at the property may also be welcome to join us for dining, based on availability.

No, we do not offer room service.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, a light breakfast of yogurt, fruit, and homemade granola is served at 8:00 AM, followed by a full buffet-style brunch at 10:00 AM.
Are there any nearby restaurants you recommend?
Local restaurants, cafes, and casual dining spots are available in downtown Bayfield and Washburn. Because operating hours change frequently depending on the season, our guest services team provides current dining lists and schedules upon arrival.
Are reservations required for dining?
Overnight guests do not need dining reservations since buffet meals are built into their stay. Non-overnight guests are welcome for dinner based on availability, but they must call the front desk by noon on the day they wish to dine.
Is the restaurant open to non-guests?
Yes, non-overnight guests can join us for dinner from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM based on available seating. They must call the retreat by noon on the desired day to check availability, confirm the nightly menu, and secure a spot.
Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes, our culinary team specializes in managing dietary restrictions and regularly prepares vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and allergy-sensitive alternatives. Please submit your specific dietary requirements to us prior to arrival. While our culinary team makes every effort to accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and preferences, some accommodations may not be possible. Downtown Bayfield also offers dining options, open seasonally, for guests to enjoy.
What kind of food and beverage do you offer?
We serve chef-curated light breakfast, brunch, and dinner arrays focused on fresh ingredients from local purveyors. Our beverage program includes specialized wines, cider, craft beer, and non-spirited mocktails designed by our nourishment team.
Can I bring my own alcohol on-site?
No, in compliance with Wisconsin state law we cannot allow guests to bring outside alcohol into any public or common area on the property.
