Class description

This retreat will help you reexamine the furthest reaches of your artistic vision and connect with a refreshing new sense of depth and surprise in your photography.

Transcendent means, “going beyond, surpassing or exceeding ordinary limits.” And that’s exactly what this retreat aims to do for you.

It begins by reviewing your past work, unlocking your inner voice and understanding how you seek to share your stories in ways which are distinctively yours.

We’ll review techniques used by contemporary and old masters in pushing their work to ‘go beyond’. But as we switch from Mindfulness to Minor White our emphasis is always on your work, and giving you practical tools you can use to expand the richness of your vision.

The creation of transcendent work is divided into Intent, Emotion and Risk. Each of these is the subject of separate daily assignments and group discussions including both writing & shooting. Together we will build a map of your creative explorations throughout the retreat. As you challenge yourself, expect to learn from both failure and success. But above all, expect your creative spirit to soar.

FOUR THINGS RETREAT GUESTS WILL WALK AWAY WITH UPON RETREAT COMPLETION:

  • An increased sense of self confidence in experimenting with their creative artistic talents.
  • Satisfaction of reviewing and culling from their work to create a cohesive portfolio.
  • Achieving a sense of self revelation through creating a distinctively personal body of work.
  • Realizing the joy of sharing their authentic work.
