Class description

In the serenity of the Peace Pod overlooking Lake Superior, guests will be guided through seasonally aligned yoga practices that integrate somatic movement, traditional postures, breath, and meditation. In addition to yoga, Amy will also host a meditation workshop and an Ayurvedic self-care workshop. Enjoy time connecting with other beautiful souls during yoga practices, Wild Rice immersion experiences, and over meals.

This retreat is designed to balance downtime with practice and connection. Each day you’ll have the opportunity to participate in outdoor and indoor activities and/or you can spend time on your own…enjoying The Sanctuary (Sauna Haus, Rain Room, and Cold Plunge), time in nature, or personal downtime to relax. 

This retreat is open to everyone, with no prior yoga experience necessary.

This retreat will give you the opportunity to:

  • Enjoy mindful movement in yoga and out in nature
  • Connect with yourself, nature, and other yoga practitioners

Our Retreat Includes:

  • Lodging for 3 nights in Scandinavian-modern accommodations (see options below)
  • Nourishing seasonally inspired meals - 3 lite breakfasts, 3 brunches, & 3 dinners
  • Daily yoga practices, an ayurvedic workshop, a meditation workshop, and Wild Rice immersion classes/experiences

biography

AMY FOGARTY is the owner of Yara Yoga LLC. She is a lifelong learner, trauma-informed yoga instructor, certified yoga therapist, ayurvedic yoga specialist, and registered nurse.

Amy is passionate about supporting people to be well and to live an embodied life that is aligned with their wisdom and truth. She loves sharing practices that help ease stress, unwind tension, and nourish connection.

Amy guides group practices, works one-on-one with private clients, leads online workshops, and guides retreats. She also currently facilitates yoga groups in an intensive outpatient eating disorder treatment program and guides several open community practices each week. She is also honored to serve as the director of yoga for a leading eating disorder treatment center in the U.S.

Amy shares a wide variety of resources to support people where they are today and encourages everyone to make it their own.

Some of her favorite tools and practices include: somatic movement practices, breath practices, therapeutic yoga, traditional yoga, mindfulness, meditation, yoga philosophy, relaxation techniques, and ayurvedic lifestyle practices.

Some of her other passions are traveling, running, hiking, reading, and cooking. 


Education: Amy earned a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from The College of St. Scholastica. She completed yoga teacher training and yoga therapy training at Yoga North ISYI. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapy and a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200/RYT 500) through Yoga Alliance. Amy also has 40-hours of training in Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) principles. She completed her Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist training through the Himalayan Institute.

Supply List

You're welcome to bring your own yoga mat, a journal, and a bathing suit (if you'd like to use the sauna/rainshower). Please bring any clothes for indoor/outdoor activities and anything that supports your comfort during yoga practices. 

Wild Rice Retreat offers mats, blankets, blocks and straps if you prefer not to bring your own.  Chairs are also provided for guests who require them.
