Retreats are powerful because they create a third space beyond everyday life and clinical care—a “pause” where we can step out of survival mode and into reflection, connection, and rest. Participants are invited to tend to what’s present beneath the surface and be seen without pressure to perform or explain—creating space for listening, insight, laughter, and belonging.
At the heart of our retreats is the recognition that healing doesn’t stop when the retreat ends — and that’s where the friends can act as connective tissue for each other. Because they’ve shared the experience, friends can help carry the learning forward, grounding new perspectives, practices, and resilience in the realities of home, relationships, and ongoing care.
biography
The concept for this retreat was born out of a deep and generative friendship between one woman with MBC and her best friend and the tools that the two of them draw on for support and to find thriving in challenging times. Together, they started to nurture the idea of kinship, a deeper word for family they adopted to express not only their own friendship, but the way they wanted to be in relationship with the world: on purpose, and in mutual aid and support. Temple of Kinship was founded in 2024 and has hosted three retreats to date.
